I have ordered lawn plugs before. None of the previous orders looked like this one. These sleves looked very dead. I will follow your directions hoping they will come back to life. It does not look good. You could have sent me at least half the order alive.
Merchant reply by John 1 day ago The very dry last few weeks on top of a very dry spring is adding a some stress to the grass during shipping. That is visible in the lack of green but the roots are fine and by planting will reverse the process of going into dormancy. The look is not attractive but as a returning customer you know Zoysia is very resilient and will bounce back just as it does after every winter. Every year and season is unique but through it all Zoysia does just fine.

Excellent service rough looking sod

Great shipping. Sod appeared completely dead.
Merchant reply by John 1 day ago Sorry to hear the grass arrived looking poorly. Fortunately it will be fine, just in a bit of shock. It was a very dry and cool spring on our farms. So the grass was very late turning green and last years growth has hung around much longer then usual. Before shipping we do a final cut and that removed most of the new green growth. The roots are fine and once planted will start to grow in their new home and send up new green blades of grass. To most it doesn't look very good but we assure you it is fine as long as it is planted and the watering instructions are followed (that is key) you should have no issues with the final result. Like any transplanted product it takes a bit of time. We are here to help in anyway we can. The office is open Monday to Friday from 8 to 4 eastern at 410-756-2311 or anytime on line at Laura@zoysiafarms.com.

Not Sure what to expect.

This order came in promptly. Last year I ordered about 300 plugs. Only about 2/3 of them survived through the winter. I am disappointed in the low survival rate.
Merchant reply by John 2 days ago Thank you for your feedback. I don't see your previous order but not any notes attached to it that you were having any issues. Zoysia can be a bit difficult to identify when planted into an existing lawn with other grasses. It might be hiding and difficult to see. Zoysia is amazingly resilient. We have had many examples of people thinking they were not successful only to notice the growth in year 2 and 3 once it is more fully developed. You still might be pleasantly surprised.

Less than advertised

Order entry was fine. The plugs delivered looked awful. I immediately out them in the ground, but am fearful they will not make it.Called customer service and they were not helpful. Said they would green up and grow quickly, but they haven't. This is third year I have purchased, and never had problems before.
Merchant reply by John 2 days ago Every season and shipment is unique and can vary greatly year to year. I sorry you got an unexpected surprise with the grass going back into dormancy before arrival. The plant does that to protect itself when not getting enough water, nutrients or sunshine. All conditions that are more likely to occur post harvesting. I see from the notes attached to this order that you talked to customer service. You have absolutely done the right thing by planting the plugs but since they have gone back into dormancy it does take some time for the process to be reversed. Unfortunately 7 days is usually not enough time yet. Continue to water for 3 weeks post planting and then stop. Zoysia only needs a drink not a bath so be careful not to over water. Give it a few more weeks as the plant is growing new roots below ground which you can't see before it can start to send up new green blades of grass. The new grass is the sign that everything is right with the plant. You are fully covered by our one year guarantee to grow.

Great for small townhouse lawn.

Great for my townhouse lawn, easy to plant and new growth after a few weeks. Excited for it to fill in the rest of the lawn.
Merchant reply by John 2 days ago Sounds like a great start. As the roots expand the grass will fill in. Zoysia does everything on the slow side so be patient as it grows roots to expand the filling in. The most filling in takes place in years 2 and 3. Thank for taking the time to give us a review. Much appreciated.

the web site was easy to operate and led you to the areas you were interest

Web site was very user friendly. When you went to another area, it only led you there instead of another big sales pitch.
Merchant reply by John 3 days ago Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We have implemented almost all of the suggestions homeowners have given us as to the questions they have and answers they are looking for about Zoysia grass. We know Zoysia is not a miracle grass but a good solution for some once they have good information without any hype. Customer's success with their project is what is important not just a sale. Thanks again.

Just received the zoysia. We'll see

Just received the zoysia. Ordering and shipping were easy. Waiting to see how it grows.
Merchant reply by John 3 days ago You are so right that the end result is what is important and why we are here to help year round if you have any questions. Quick shipping and easy ordering are great but what everyone really wants is a beautiful Zoysia lawn. Fortunately our hardy field grown Zoysia is actually super easy to grow if the instructions are followed. It has survived 4-6 years in our fields not just a few months in a pampered greenhouse environment like many plants. Thanks for your initial review.

Buyers Beware - no quality control and no solutions

Bought the cubes as they appeared to be cut and got just roots for the majority of the plants with no dirt. As far as “Pre-cut”, this is laughable as some were dull sheets of sod. When I called, they said, their must be something wrong with the machine and she would inform management. No solution. Buyers beware.
Merchant reply by John 3 days ago Surprisingly it has been a very dry spring and we are seeing some examples of the dirt falling off the roots of the grass. This particularly happens in sandy soil parts of our farm. Fortunately our field grown grass is extremely hardy. All the plant vitality is in the roots and not the dirt. As long as the grass roots are planted and the watering instructions followed we guarantee the grass will grow and if perchance some doesn't, we will happily replace it free. We apologize that some grass arrived not cut all the way through. We constantly monitor this both when harvesting and at the packaging stage. Some do slip through. It is a regular subject at our morning meetings when we hear any issues. Now if we could get Mother Nature to be more consistent with weather and growing plants, things would run a lot smoother. We reminded all concerned staff again today the importance of quality control. All your concerns and comments were noted in your file post your phone call yesterday. Thanks you for bringing this to our attention and assure you, we remain committed to your project success and will be here to make that happen.

Very dry.

Grass came in real dry. What soil that was left on the roots was falling off when i moved them. I planted them in small starter planters to see if they are going to grow. Didn't want to waste time planting them .I was planning on planting these ordering some more but not sure now. I received an earlier order this year and they looked great. They had green sprouts way back then, but not now. I don't understand
Merchant reply by John 3 days ago One of the driest springs on record at our farm and combined with some sandy soil, has resulted in some of the soil falling off in transit it sounds like. All the plants vitality is in the roots and once the roots get into your soil they should be just fine. Not really sure about planting in "small planters". What we strongly recommend with our years of experience is getting the plugs into the ground so they can adapt to their new home and naturally gain moisture and nutrients from the soil in your yard. Doing a second transplant is just more stress for the plants and extra work for you. We are here Monday to Friday form 8 to 4 eastern 410-756-2311 more than happy to help in any way we can.
